COLUMBUS — The College Football Playoff National Championship is one week away, Ohio State fans. The Buckeyes will depart Columbus for Atlanta later this week to take on Notre Dame in the 2025 national title game.

It’s another top-ten matchup for the Buckeyes with a national title on the line. The stakes are at an all-time high with several narratives being spun and the pressure is high for both teams to win it all.

Ohio State vs Notre Dame: Game time, details

Ohio State and Notre Dame have only squared off eight times with the ninth set coming in the 2025 National Championship on Monday, Jan. 20. The Buckeyes have won the last six wins in the series including wins at home against the Irish to open the 2022 season and in South Bend last season. Notre Dame’s lone wins against Ohio State came in 1935 and 1936. This is the third matchup between Ryan Day and Marcus Freeman.

Notre Dame (14-1) is coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal win over Penn State in the Orange Bowl.

Ohio State has played Notre Dame four times this century. Two were regular season matchups and two postseason matchups with both coming in the Fiesta Bowl. The Buckeyes beat the Fighting Irish in the 2006 and 2016 Fiesta Bowls.
