2025 wide receiver Jaden Nickens commits to Sooners
It just felt like it wasn’t one of those usual unofficial visits when Jaden Nickens visited the Sooners on July 31. This one meant something.
The recruiting dead period began Aug. 1 and runs through the whole month, meaning zero visits are allowed. There had to be a reason the 2025 Oklahoma City Millwood wide receiver had to see Norman one more time.
And now we know. Nickens announced his commitment to Oklahoma in a special ceremony Saturday afternoon.
It continues an impressive run of in-state commitments for the Sooners and head coach Brent Venables during the summer. That includes both the 2024 and 2025 classes.
Nickens became a major name to watch heading into his sophomore season with the Falcons. He shot up the recruiting rankings and had offers from a who’s who at this point.
Funny enough, the debate has always been about which sport. Even before he had his first football offer, Nickens was rolling in basketball offers.
That can be determined later, what is known now is OU adding another playmaker for the 2025 class. Nickens is the third wide receiver, joining Gracen Harris and Elijah Thomas.

Nickens is also the third in-state prospect to commit for the 2025 class. Quarterback Kevin Sperry is now at Midwest City Carl Albert, and Thomas is at Checotah. Thomas beat Nickens to the punch two weeks ago in what is a loaded 2025 in-state class and loaded at receiver.
Nickens is a consensus four-star prospect and ranked in the top 200 of every recruiting service. He is No. 117 for On3 and No. 111 overall for the industry composite.
With this commitment checked off, all eyes go toward On3’s No. 1 overall prospect for the 2024 class, Williams Nwaneri.
The five-star defensive end is set to announce 3 p.m. Monday, with OU, Georgia and Missouri looking like the top three choices.
That’s Monday. For this weekend, though, it’s more cause for celebration as Emmett Jones continues to tear it up on the trail. And OU is making sure its top recruits like Nickens stay home.
