OU softball has been getting everything asked for and more from Ailana Agbayani defensively. She has been the anchor at second base and a calming presence for the infield.

But don’t forget her offense. Agbayani had a night to remember in helping the second-ranked Sooners to a 10-2 run-rule victory at Tulsa in six innings on Wednesday night.

Three trips to the plate, three hits, one run scored and a whopping five RBIs. The last two coming on a two-run triple in the top of the sixth.

Head coach Patty Gasso said she wanted to use the game as a chance for some others to get their opportunity. She said someone like freshman Sydney Barker is doing too well to not be in the lineup more.

Barker proved Gasso right. The freshman came through with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. She was one of two freshmen to go deep.

Coming off winning SEC Freshman of the Week, Gabbie Garcia did it again. She got the OU scoring barrage going with a solo shot in the second inning.

From there, let your pitchers do the week. Gasso went with Audrey Lowry, initially. The freshman threw 2.1 innings before making way for Sam Landry. Lowry was efficient, as usual, and struck out four.

Gasso said it was imperative to get Landry back in the circle against the Golden Hurricane. OU is going to need Landry this weekend at Arkansas. The only way to know she was back would be to put her in.

Landry went the 3.2 innings, allowing one run and striking out five. Landry retired the final seven she faced.

OU moves to 23-0 this season. Now? Time to hit the road. The first SEC road series in program history as the Sooners head to Arkansas for a three-game set, starting Friday.
