Around the Corner: Is Joe Castiglione still the right guy at OU?
There are passionate fans, and then there are OU fans. There are OU sites, and then there’s the SoonerScoop.
And the lifeblood of Scoop has always been The Crimson Corner. For better or worse, The Corner is the spot to be every single day. And just wait for a breaking news day.
So let’s give a little love to The Corner. Not just in the written form, but surprise, now on video. It’s Eddie Radosevich and George Stoia tackling questions from The Corner in a new series called: Around the Corner.
Quick-hit teasers.
Is Joe Castiglione still the guy to lead OU?
Stoia mentioned the ‘abject failure’ that has been in Norman the last three years with head football coach Brent Venables and head basketball coach Porter Moser.
“I think you have to make a move,” said Stoia if Moser cannot make the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season.
“If both fail? You’re going to have to hold Joe C. accountable…” Stoia continued.
Lack of urgency for the defensive coordinator?
Again, there has been zero panic with OU regarding the defensive coordinator position. Why? Are they the smartest men in the room? Or about to have complete egg on their face?

“Either Oklahoma is going to pull off one of the biggest hires in college football history in Jim Knowles…” Stoia stated.
“This isn’t the same scenario as the offensive coordinator… There doesn’t need to be some rush,” said Stoia.
Elite QB necessary for a natty?
“Boy, you would prefer one,” Stoia said. “This year is a unique year. Are they elite? I don’t think so. Their rosters (Notre Dame, Ohio State) are elite.”
Buzz on winter testing
“Keontez Lewis has been one of the surprising names. One of the best testing periods of any wide receiver,” Stoia said. “Can come in and be a solid addition to the receiving room.”
“Deion Burks put together a clinic. That shouldn’t be a surprise.”
“Elijah Thomas… Maybe this guy is someone who can help as a true freshman.”
All that and a whole lot more on the initial edition of Around the Corner from SoonerScoop.
