Bowe Bentley Has Oklahoma Football in Final Two

CELINA, TEXAS – Since March 30, Bowe Bentley‘s recruiting discussions have centered around three programs – Oklahoma, LSU, and Georgia. But now the Sooners have seen their competitors split in half. With the commitment of Jared Curtis to Georgia 11 days ago the assumption has existed that the Bulldogs would no longer be part of his recruitment.
On Thursday, following a Celina practice Bentley confirmed the rumors that he has a final two – Oklahoma and LSU. The Sooners have been hard after Bentley, in spite of having their own long-time quarterback commitment, since offering him on Jan. 24.
“Coach (Ben) Arbuckle’s offense just getting to watch it and obviously develop Cam Ward for a year and the Heismans they have. Them being in the SEC too means a lot and Coach [Brent] Venables you have to go against his defense every talk. Getting to talk to (John) Mateer and hearing how that made him better,” Bentley said of the Sooners a few weeks ago.

Bowe Bentley Sees Bright Future in Baton Rouge
His relationship with Mateer seems to be a major growing factor in Oklahoma’s pursuit of Bentley but that’s not to say Oklahoma football won’t have plenty to do to fight off the LSU Tigers. Since early on their proximity and NFL production at the position have loomed as a very real threat.

He spoke about what has cemented LSU as such a strong option in his eyes.
“The Heismans they’ve had and the development Coach (Joe) Sloan has with each quarterback and being one of the top programs in the SEC. Coach (Brian) Kelly and my relationship with them has been amazing over the course of this process,” he said.
“How much the fans care about the program no matter what the sport is. They’re always there to support you and give you the best that you need.”
The talented quarterback spoke at length on Thursday with SoonerScoop.com about his finalists and we’ll have more to come soon.
