Carl Albert, OU commits punctuate undefeated season
Two lines of thinking when it came to Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert. On one hand, it felt like a dream team for head coach Mike Dunn.
On the other, extreme pressure to prove you are that dream team. The Titans were tested a bit but always powered through.
It happened again Saturday as Carl Albert capped an undefeated season with another state championship, beating Del City 35-14 at Central Oklahoma.
Back-to-back titles and seven of the last eight years.
Oh, Oklahoma fans might be pretty familiar with team. The Titans already have four players committed to OU, three for 2025 and 2024 running back Xavier Robinson.
“All the praise goes to this program and their coaches,” Robinson said. “They always go out there and get the plays down correctly, then they translate it to us and we try to translate their vision onto the field. All the stats and history of this program do not lie. Coach Dunn preached throughout the season to not get complacent and stay consistent, so to see that pay off in the state championship is a great feeling.
“Leaving it the way I wanted to – really excited. It feels great.”
It was one last banner outing for Robinson, a three-star running back commitment. He rushed for 133 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns. He also had three receptions for 64 yards and a score.
Looking for an exclamation point? It was Robinson’s 65-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
2025 QB Kevin Sperry
Sperry moved from Texas to Midwest City, and it paid off with a state championship. He was 9-of-12 passing for 131 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 103 yards on 15 attempts with another touchdown.
“It means so much,” Sperry said. “Answered prayers. We’re hard on each other but love each other very much. A true team atmosphere.”
2025 ATH Trynae Washington
Let the debate continue about where Washington should play at OU. He was solid on defense in this one. Washington had two interceptions in the endzone, eliminating multiple scoring threats by the Eagles.

2025 LB Marcus James
James showed his two-way potential. It’s clear OU loves him as a linebacker, but James ended his junior season with yet another touchdown. Sperry found James for a 26-yard score. James had a lot of tackles, including one huge hit in the fourth quarter.
Sticking with OU
It was a bit of a shock for Sperry and Robinson when offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby left. They’re happy for him as head coach at Mississippi State. And they’re sticking by the Sooners.
OU coaches, including head coach Brent Venables, were in attendance Saturday.
“I’m locked in with Oklahoma,” Sperry said. “Nothing but happy for Coach Lebby. I’m locked in with Oklahoma, definitely. Their culture is different. Coach Venables, I love him.”
Sperry also said he has developed a great relationship with co-offensive coordinator Joe Jon Finley. And now that is beginning with Seth Littrell.
“He has a great history,” Sperry said. “We’ve definitely talked a lot more since he got the job. Excited for the future.”
Sperry and the other 2025 commits will have to wait. It’s coming a lot quicker for Robinson. He said he will be in Norman on Dec. 15 weekend and on campus for good in January.
“I’m just excited for it all,” Robinson said.
