The Crimson Countdown is officially on for the 2024 Oklahoma football season. Fans have been waiting for what feels like forever with this one. The Sooners are finally and officially joining the SEC.

The 2023 season was a rebound one for head coach Brent Venables, getting the program back to its standard. OU went 10-3 in Venables’ second season, now it’s time for year No. 3.

Every day as we get closer to kickoff, SoonerScoop.com will count down the days with you. Starting with No. 99 and working our way to No. 0, we’ll be there every step of the way.

Crimson Countdown: No. 10 Bauer Sharp

2023 Stats: 29 receptions for 288 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games at Southeastern Louisiana.

2024 Outlook: Sharp has gone from a seemingly under the radar win for the Sooners to being a player that some are expecting to make a true impact almost immediately for Oklahoma. Sharp is a big and athletic tight end that not only is a skilled receiver, but a guy that shows some real nastiness in his blocking.

Due to not being a player that has a lot of experience at tight end, he’s still got a lot of room to grow and should only get better as the season wore on.

2024 Tight End Outlook

One room that has a totally new look in 2024 is the tight end room. Austin Stogner took nearly every snap last year at tight end. He’s now gone and there are several new faces. Transfers Bauer Sharp and Jake Roberts are expected to lead the way. Sharp was especially impressive in the spring, with Roberts missing all of spring with an injury. OU also brought in highly-touted freshman Davon Mitchell, who by far has the most talent of the group. But don’t forget about Kaden Helms and Kade McIntyre, who both return from injury.
