2024 outlook: With the season-ending injury to Jayden Gibson in mind it would appear redshirt senior J.J. Hester is seen as the next man up on the outside. Since transferring from Missouri Hester’s career has been sidetracked by a pair of foot injuries. Now the former Booker T. Washington standout is healthy and looking to get in the mix of a deep receiver room. Look for the big bodied pass catcher at the very least to get an opportunity early in the non-conference slate.
2024 wide receiver outlook:
There’s no offensive position with more depth than wide receiver. While the Sooners lose leading receiver Drake Stoops to the NFL, they return everyone else. Jalil Farooq and Andrel Anthony are both back, but both missed most of the spring with injuries. Nic Anderson, who led the team in touchdowns last season, is also back. But the X factor for the Sooners might be Purdue transfer Deion Burks, who showed everyone he might be the best weapon OU has during the Spring Game.
