2024 outlook: Can he stay healthy? The speedster flashed on the back end of last season as a deep threat for Dillon Gabriel and Jackson Arnold averaging 34.4 yards per reception. Despite the small sample size of action since arriving in Norman, Thompson is a name to remember. Along with staying out of the training room it’ll be interesting to see if he can turn into a more well rounded receiver and not just a burner for Arnold to throw the deep ball to.
2024 Wide Receiver Outlook:
There’s no offensive position with more depth than wide receiver. While the Sooners lose leading receiver Drake Stoops to the NFL, they return everyone else. Jalil Farooq and Andrel Anthony are both back, but both missed most of the spring with injuries. Nic Anderson, who led the team in touchdowns last season, is also back. But the X factor for the Sooners might be Purdue transfer Deion Burks, who showed everyone he might be the best weapon OU has during the Spring Game.
