Crimson Countdown: No. 16 Casey Thompson
2023 stats (at FAU): 509 yards, 5 touchdowns, 5 interceptions
2024 outlook: Thompson transferred to Oklahoma after spending time with Texas, Nebraska and Florida Atlantic. This will be his seventh year of playing college football, giving OU some much-needed experience at the quarterback position. While he may not be the starter for the Sooners in 2024, he does provide valuable veteran leadership and could be a valuable asset if someone were to get injured.
2024 quarterback outlook
There’s a new QB1 in Norman and his name is Jackson Arnold. The sophomore takes over for Dillon Gabriel, now at Oregon. And the expectations couldn’t be higher for the former five-star. OU’s season will largely hinder on how well Arnold performs. But the Sooners have more than Arnold, as the room has totally reformed in recent years. Former Texas, Nebraska and FAU quarterback Casey Thompson transferred to OU to be a savvy, veteran backup. While freshmen Michael Hawkins and Brendan Zurbrugg are also competing for roles next season.
