2024 outlook: It was a very small sample size as a true freshman but Fremont (Neb.) native could be a player to watch in Joe Jon Finley’s tight end room this season. McIntyre, a redshirt freshman, dealt with a broken hand at the onset of the season last year and figures to take that next step alongside veteran transfers Bauer Sharp and Jake Roberts. The trio could be envisioned to be the Sooners 1-2-3 in terms of Oklahoma’s tight end depth chart for the Aug. 30 season-opener versus Temple.
2024 Tight End Outlook:
One room that has a totally new look in 2024 is the tight end room. Austin Stogner took nearly every snap last year at tight end. He’s now gone and there are several new faces. Transfers Bauer Sharp and Jake Roberts are expected to lead the way. Sharp was especially impressive in the spring, with Roberts missing all of spring with an injury. OU also brought in highly-touted freshman Davon Mitchell, who by far has the most talent of the group. But don’t forget about Kaden Helms and Kade McIntyre, who both return from injury.
