Crimson Countdown: No. 24 – Ivan Carreon
2023 stats: N/A
2024 outlook: When looking at freshmen that could be instant contributors in 2024, you will find Ivan Carreon’s name toward the top of the list. The 6-foot-6, 223-pound pass catcher arrived in Norman during the spring and impressed, showing an ability to use his large frame. Physically he sticks out but the question remains how quickly can he acclimate himself to the physicality of college football. The Odessa (Texas) native will carry with him high expectations heading into his first fall as a Sooner.
2024 wide receiver outlook:
There’s no offensive position with more depth than wide receiver. While the Sooners lose leading receiver Drake Stoops to the NFL, they return everyone else. Jalil Farooq and Andrel Anthony are both back, but both missed most of the spring with injuries. Nic Anderson, who led the team in touchdowns last season, is also back. And Jayden Gibson looks to have a bigger role next year after a strong spring. But the X factor for the Sooners might be Purdue transfer Deion Burks, who showed everyone he might be the best weapon OU has during the Spring Game.
