Crimson Countdown: No. 38 Owen Heinecke
2023 stats: 4 tackles.
2024 outlook: From Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, Heinecke is a preferred walk-on for the Sooners. He’s played on several special teams units, including kickoff where he had all of his tackles last season. He is once again expected to be a key special teams player in 2024. Heinecke has done a great job of being among the first guys down the field to disrupt opposing kickoff returns.

2024 linebacker outlook
The linebacker is stacked for the Sooners in 2024. Senior Danny Stutsman leads the way for Oklahoma, after he chose to stay one more year. Next to Stutsman are a host of guys, including Kip Lewis, Jaren Kanak and Kobie McKinzie, among others. All are fighting for playing time in 2024, including sophomores Lewis Carter and Samuel Omosigho, who were impressive in the spring and could start for Oklahoma next season. Dasan McCullough has also entered the mix, moving to inside linebacker.
