You can hear his confidence in preseason camp. No longer trying to find his way through things. He knows what he is doing and has plenty of experience and production to back that up.
Malone has some really nice strength for a cornerback, and we’ll see how he is able to get that in the game. Might be a sneaky pick for biggest portal addition for the Sooners.
2024 cornerback outlook
The cornerback room is another unit that has more depth than usual for the Sooners. Junior Gentry Williams returns for his third season and is expected to start at one spot, if he’s healthy. There are several players though pushing Williams for one of the two starting spots, including new San Diego State transfer Dez Malone and Louisville transfer Kani Walker, who is now in his third year in Norman. Young guys Jacobe Johnson and Makari Vickers have also been impressive, hoping to have a bigger role in 2024.
