Crimson Countdown: No. 60 Tyler Guyton
The Crimson Countdown is officially on for the 2023 Oklahoma football season. It’s the second season under head coach Brent Venables and expectations are high once again. The Sooners are looking to rebound from the uncharacteristic 6-7 season in 2022.
Every day as we get closer to kickoff, SoonerScoop.com will count down the days with you. Starting with No. 98 and working our way to No. 0, we’ll be there every step of the way.
Crimson Countdown: No. 60 Tyler Guyton
2022 stats: Five starts in 10 games played.
2023 outlook: Guyton enters the 2023 season with maybe the highest expectations of any offensive player. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound right tackle is anticipated to be one of the best offensive linemen in the Big 12 and the country. Some believe he could be a first-round pick after this season if all goes to plan.

Guyton started his career at TCU before transferring to Oklahoma for the 2022 season. Last year, Guyton split time with Wanya Morris, who was drafted by the Chiefs in the third round. Guyton started against UTEP, Kent State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, and Florida State. A former tight end, Guyton was inconsistent at times, which is why Morris started when healthy. But now, it’s Guyton’s position and he’s shown the potential to be one of the better tackles Oklahoma has had in recent history.
2023 offensive tackle outlook
Oklahoma will have to replace both tackles this fall, with Anton Harrison and Wanya Morris both now in the NFL. Stanford transfer Walter Rouse is a veteran, having been a three-starter for the Cardinal, and is anticipated to start at left tackle. And Tyler Guyton, who started five games at right tackle last season, is the expected starter at right tackle. The Sooners don’t have much experience beyond that but have high hopes for freshman Cayden Green and sophomore Jacob Sexton.
