Crimson Countdown: No. 70 Cayden Green
The Crimson Countdown is officially on for the 2023 Oklahoma football season. It’s the second season under head coach Brent Venables and expectations are high once again. The Sooners are looking to rebound from the uncharacteristic 6-7 season in 2022.
Every day as we get closer to kickoff, SoonerScoop.com will count down the days with you. Starting with No. 98 and working our way to No. 0, we’ll be there every step of the way.
Crimson Countdown: No. 70 – Cayden Green
2022 stats: N/A.
2023 outlook: Want to win games in the Southeastern Conference? Well, you better be good in the trenches. It’s all rather obvious, no? Simply put: Cayden Green is a very talented football player. Exciting times, indeed. Just as important as the signing of defensive end P.J. Adebawore on the defensive side of the football, you could call the addition of Green as his equal on the offensive side of the football.
How quickly Green can acclimate himself is yet to be determined. At the very least, it’s expected of Green to add depth almost immediately.

Green’s frame is exciting. He’s every bit of the listed 6-foot-5, 315-pounds. He has all of the God-given ability to be one of the next great offensive tackles procured by offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh. However, like any true freshman, patience will be required as he begins his career.
In time, Green should be one of the players protecting five-star signal caller Jackson Arnold.
2023 offensive tackle outlook
The tackle situation is intriguing at Oklahoma heading into this season as they look to replace departed bookends Anton Harrison and Wanya Morris. Tyler Guyton started five games a season ago and could be the next high draft pick from Oklahoma. While Stanford transfer Walter Rouse brings experience and veteran leadership with him from the Pac-12. Plan A would be for Guyton to slide into the starting role at right tackle with Rouse seamlessly fitting into the starting left tackle position. Cayden Green and Jacob Sexton should slot in as depth options at the tackle spots.
