Crimson Countdown: No. 8 Makari Vickers
2023 Stats: Eight tackles (four solo), and one pass break-up in eight games.
2024 Outlook: Vickers was a player that many expected to make a step forward this fall and while that still may happen so far there’s not been much to make that seem evident. The talented young corner shined at times during his freshman year and has some natural ability – it’ll be interesting to see how things develop for Vickers in one of the deepest rooms on the roster.
2024 Cornerback Outlook
The cornerback room is another unit that has more depth than usual for the Sooners. Junior Gentry Williams returns for his third season and is expected to start at one spot if he’s healthy. There are several players though pushing Williams for one of the two start spots, including new San Diego State transfer Dez Malone and Louisville transfer Kani Walker, who is now in his third year in Norman. Young guys Jacobe Johnson and Vickers have also been impressive, hoping to have a bigger role in 2024.
