Da'Jon Terry transferring to Oklahoma
Oklahoma football is not done with the transfer portal. Head coach Brent Venables and staff continue to put in the work to do whatever they think can make the 2023 team better.
The Sooners have to believe they’ve done just that with former Tennessee defensive tackle Da’Jon Terry, announcing his commitment to OU on Friday morning.
Terry visited OU earlier this week after hitting the portal last weekend, and it’s clear that everything hit the right notes for all parties involved.
Terry is a graduate transfer, spending the past two seasons at Tennessee after transferring to Knoxville from Kansas following the 2021 season. In 25 games for Tennessee, he totaled 35 tackles, six tackles for loss, and three sacks.
He started seven games for Tennessee last season, totaling 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. He was a three-star prospect from Meridian High School in Mississippi in the 2019 class.
Terry, 6-foot-4 and 320 pounds, is just the latest transfer addition in the trenches. OU also brought in Davon Sears (Texas State) and Jacob Lacey (Notre Dame) during the winter. They both went through spring ball.
The Sooners are bringing some experience back at the position with guys like Isaiah Coe and Jordan Kelley, but everybody knows you cannot have too many defensive tackles.

Track Oklahoma transfer portal activity
While the NCAA transfer portal database is private, the On3 Network has streamlined the reporting process tracking player movement.
If you find yourself asking, ‘How can I track transfer portal activity?’ our well-established network of reporters and contacts across college athletics keeps you up to speed in several ways, from articles written about players as they enter and exit the transfer portal or find their new destination, to our social media channels, to the On3 Transfer Portal.
The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking and original On3 Consensus recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image and likeness).
The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and senior national college football reporter Matt Zenitz’s Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves.
