Defensive back Jocelyn Malaska transferring to OU
OU head coach Brent Venables has been about keeping the best players in the state with the Sooners. And sometimes, that means going to the transfer portal to make it happen.
A second chance to have guys back in the fold. That’s happening again as former Utah defensive back Jocelyn Malaska announced Tuesday he’s transferring to Oklahoma.
Malaska will be a redshirt sophomore when he arrives in Norman. He played in eight games in his two seasons with the Utes, seeing action on special teams.
He was a three-star prospect coming out of high school, ranked No. 14 in the state for the 2022 class. Originally committed to Texas Tech, he flipped to Utah. He was listed at 6-foot-1 and 178 pounds by Utah heading into this season.
“I love the culture and what they are building,” said Malaska to On3. “They are going to put me in the best position to be successful and develop.”
Malaska will be a preferred walk-on, at least initially, with the Sooners.
OU has now added seven players from the portal, six scholarship and Malaska.
