OU officially has its 2024 football schedule.

The SEC released its full schedule on Wednesday night, releasing all 16 team’s schedules on ESPN. It will be Oklahoma’s first season in the conference and it certainly will be challenging.

Here’s a look at OU’s 2024 schedule:

  • Aug. 31 vs Temple Owls
  • Sept. 7 vs Houston Cougars
  • Sept. 14 vs Tulane
  • Sept. 21 vs Tennessee
  • Sept. 28 at Auburn
  • Oct. 5 BYE
  • Oct. 12 vs Texas (Dallas)
  • Oct. 19 vs South Carolina
  • Oct. 26 at Ole Miss
  • Nov. 2 vs Maine
  • Nov. 9 at Missouri
  • Nov. 16 BYE
  • Nov. 23 vs Alabama
  • Nov. 30 at LSU

That’s a daunting schedule for OU, having to go on the road to LSU, Ole Miss and Missouri, with all three finishing in the top 15 in the CFP rankings this season. They also have to face Alabama and Tennessee at home, two teams that finished in the top 25. And of course they will face Texas in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl on the secnd Saturday of October. Six of Oklahoma’s 12 opponents finished ranked in the top 25 and two — Alabama and Texas — are playing in this year’s College Football Playoff.

OU, though, is looking forward to the challenge.

“We’re going to be playing against the best, man,” linebacker Danny Stutsman said Tuesday. “Excited for that. All those games; I can’t wait until they get announced Wednesday. I’m excited for that, man. Looking forward to it.”

Oklahoma will have a lot of new faces on both sides of the ball, starting at quarterback. Freshman Jackson Arnold is taking over for Dillon Gabriel, who is transferring to Oregon. Arnold’s success will largely dictate how OU fares in its first season in the SEC. And he seems poised to lead the Sooners.

“I’m super excited,” Arnold said. “It’s obviously a great opportunity for me. You know, being a freshman and getting some real experience before experiencing the SEC next year, I’m super pumped up for this opportunity.”
