Four Sooners were named to the All-Big 12 first team, the conference announced Wednesday.
Quarterback Dillon Gabriel, wide receiver Drake Stoops, safety Billy Bowman and linebacker Danny Stutsman were all first-team selections. Defensive end Ethan Downs and center Andrew Raym were both second-team selections.
None of the first team selections should come as a surprise for the Sooners.
Gabriel was a unanimous selection as first-team quarterback, leading the conference in passing offense, passing efficiency, passing touchdowns (30), passing yards (3,660), and points responsible for per game. He has also scored a league-high 42 total touchdowns this season. Gabriel also received votes for Offensive Player of the Year.
Stoops has been OU’s leading receiver this season with 78 receptions, 880 yards and 10 touchdowns. His receptions and touchdowns lead the Big 12 and his yards are third.
Bowman has been one of the best safeties in the country this season. He has a conference-high six interceptions this season and a school-record three pick-6s. He also received votes for Defensive Player of the Year.
