OU basketball is going through another roster roller coaster for the 2024-25 season. The Sooners worked the previous two months believing they were set.

Except they weren’t. And perhaps the crown jewel of the class is officially in. OU announced point guard Jeremiah Fears has officially signed with the program Monday afternoon.

“I am excited about the opportunity to coach Jeremiah and have him in our program,” said head coach Porter Moser in a press release. “He was one of the most dynamic scorers in the country in his class and showcased his skill set on the Nike EYBL, scoring 21.2 points on 51.4% shooting at Peach Jam. Jeremiah has tremendous speed in the full court combined with a great knack for scoring at all three levels. He immediately helps us with the pace and speed of the game.”

The recruitment of Fears was a summer whirlwind. From decommitting from Illinois to reclassifying to the 2024 class to picking OU, July was one month to remember.

Fears was a borderline five-star prospect for the 2025 class before changing to 2024. Moser has a long history with the Fears family, dating back to recruiting Fears’ father. The recruitment was a bit odd because none of it could be done in person, with July being a dead recruiting period.

Fears committed, and then visited OU to begin this month. Everything, obviously, went well during the trip.

In addition to his Peach Jam performance, Fears competed in nine games on the Nike EYBL, averaging 18.9 points on 41.0% (55-134) shooting and tallied 4.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest.

Fears wasn’t the lone Sooner in that position. Former Oregon State and St. John’s forward Glenn Taylor Jr. did the same. No visit, committed to OU and then visited with Fears to begin this month.

The non-conference schedule for OU should be finalized soon, including an expected Bedlam showdown against Oklahoma State.
