Kobe Elvis introduces himself to OU fans in blowout victory
An incredibly small sample size, but that was not the start OU guard Kobe Elvis was hoping for as a Sooner. He knows his role and knows he can play it well.
But for whatever reason, the initial two games were clunky. His message for game No. 3? Time to dominate right from the jump.
It still might have taken a little bit, but Elvis and OU did just that. The Sooners got it rolling midway through the first half and never looked back en route to an 85-64 victory against visiting Stetson on Saturday afternoon.
Elvis said he wanted to dominate, and he played that way. This is the Elvis that head coach Porter Moser wanted to bring to Norman.
Confident, running the show, doing it all. Elvis missed a deep three to end the first half, his only blemish on what was a superb initial 20 minutes.
He finished with 19 points on 8-for-9 shooting (3-4 from 3-point territory), with three assists, two rebounds and a steal.
Elvis had 24 points, six assists and three steals. As a team, OU had 12 steals.
Stetson led 19-16 before OU went on a 23-2 run, fueled by Elvis and Jalon Moore. OU never looked back. It also added a 19-3 run in the second half.

Game No. 3 Takeaways
*It couldn’t be Elvis alone, and it wasn’t because of Moore. The senior star didn’t assert himself early. But after he checked back in with Stetson up 19-16, he went to work.
Or should we say he came to dunk. One dunk after another by Moore to wake up the LNC crowd, including a nice windmill that brought everybody to their feet.
Moore finished with five dunks. He scored 13 of his 21 points in the second half.
*OU once again played without Jadon Jones (back) and Brycen Goodine (ankle). Those two, as Moser has said repeatedly, are expected to be among the best shooters for the team. Until then? OU is finding different ways to win.

One more early non-conference showdown in Norman before we’ll get an idea of what this team is all about. OU (3-0) hosts East Texas A&M (formerly Texas A&M-Commerce) at 7 p.m. Thursday. Then? It’s time for the Battle 4 Atlantis during Thanksgiving week.
