No. 13 OU came all the way back from down 24 on Thursday against No. 7 LSU. But it wasn’t enough, as the lady Sooners fell short, losing 107-100 in Baton Rouge.

Oklahoma trailed by 10 at halftime and 15 to start the fourth quarter. Its largest deficit was 72-48 with 4:13 remaining in the third quarter. But OU stormed back late in the final quarter, cutting the deficit to just one point with 54.5 seconds remaining.

And it appeared that the Sooners had forced a stop on LSU’s ensuing possession. Instead, they gave up three consecutive LSU offensive rebounds, which led to a Mikaylah Williams 3-pointer to extend the lead to four. OU turned the ball over on its next possession, leading to a fastbreak layup for LSU, putting the Sooners away.

OU struggled to guard Williams, who scored a career-high 37 points with seven 3-pointers. LSU star guard Flau’Jae Johnson was also too much to handle, scoring 25 points for the Tigers. LSU shot an impressive 46% from 3, making 12 3-pointers. The Sooners shot 38% from 3, making nine.

Oklahoma was led by guard Payton Verhulst, who scored a team-high 26 points. Center Raegan Beers added 20 points and seven rebounds. She did not miss from the field, going 8-of-8. As a team, the Sooners struggled at the free throw line, going 21-of-31. They were also outrebounded 38-33 and had four more turnovers than LSU.

The schedule won’t get any easier for the Sooners. They will face No. 12 Kentucky on Sunday at 3 pm at the Lloyd Noble Center. Oklahoma is now 16-5 and 4-4 (SEC) on the season with eight games remaining in 2025.
