Next wave of OU wide receivers arriving for 2025 season
Some OU fans might have been waiting for 2025 as early as mid-October. Knowing the 2024 season wasn’t going to be something to remember, it was time to look ahead.
The first step is now in the books. It is move-in weekend for OU. The Sooners bringing in plenty of help with the 2025 recruiting class and the transfer portal additions.
And if you want to talk about where OU needed to address things first? Yep, it was wide receiver. Nobody wants to talk about what happened in 2024. But it’s up to wide receivers coach Emmett Jones to get it rolling once again.
One thing OU made a pretty conscientious effort to do was bring in size. Now you’re not about to say no to speed, blazing speed. However, the Sooners are looking to get bigger and tougher.

“Big guys that can move that, at times, can play like a small guy,” head coach Brent Venables said. “I think that’s really important. I’ve seen plenty of guys that are maybe smaller in dimension but they play big. You’re going to get a lot of press coverage, big, long, physical guys up front that are going to get in the windows that some of the small guys can get through.
“But it’s important that we get size with speed and athletic ability, guys that can make plays and not just big, not just small, not just fast, but guys that can make competitive, tough plays and that’s what these two guys have shown in high school and think that they’ll probably bring that as well coming to Oklahoma. I think, from a conference standpoint, that’ll transition well with both guys.”
It’s going to be a whole new crop of guys. Gone are some familiar names, but here they come. High school signees Emmanuel Choice and Elijah Thomas. And then transfer additions Javonnie Gibson, Isaiah Sategna, Josiah Martin and Keontez Lewis.
Time to get Team 131 going, including five-star signee Michael Fasusi.
