Offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu transferring to OU
OU head coach Brent Venables was very intentional on signing day. He talked about the Sooners looking to add four offensive linemen through the transfer portal.
One was in at the time in former Michigan State offensive tackle Spencer Brown. And now here comes No. 2 in former North Texas offensive guard Febechi Nwaiwu.
Nwaiwu recently visited OU and made his commitment Friday afternoon. He is No. 6 overall for the Sooners from the portal.
Nwaiwu entered the first day of the portal process and will have two seasons worth of eligibility remaining with the Sooners.
He was a two-year starter for the Mean Green. Even before Cayden Green’s departure, Nwaiwu had already caught the eye of the OU staff. But after Green left (Missouri), it became even more imperative to get some hits from the spot.
That’s two offensive linemen down, and according to Venables, two more to go.
OU has also earned commitments from defensive back Dez Malone (San Diego State) and wide receiver Deion Burks (Purdue). As well as running back Samuel Franklin (UT-Martin) and tight end Bauer Sharp (Southeastern Louisiana).
