We’re not even in February, but we’re already there for OU basketball. Yep, get ready another intense six, seven weeks coming up.

It’s time for the annual tradition nobody wants to be a part of – bubble season. The Sooners weren’t there when they were 13-0. However, a 1-4 start in the SEC has everybody wondering whether this team has the goods.

Head coach Porter Moser, unfortunately, has been down this road too many times. OU was the second team out during his initial season in Norman. And, of course, the Sooners were the First Team Out last March.

A gut-wrenching evening that nobody involved with has forgotten about. Yet here we go again. This is bound to change on a weekly basis. The good news? OU is absolutely on the right side of the bubble at this moment.

For some Bracketologists, OU isn’t even in the danger zone. The seedings range from 8-10 and firmly in the tournament to being among the Last Four in and being in one of the play-in games.

The OU magic number is seven more wins. Maybe even six, if it’s the right ones. The Sooners need to be 7-11 or 8-10 in conference play. A lot harder to accomplish when you’re 0-4 to begin everything.

OU has the week off, so take a deep breath and relax. Recharge the batteries and get ready for what’s to come.

Where does OU stand right now? It’s time for the Hoops Report from SoonerScoop with Bob Przybylo and Eddie Radosevich.

The Sooners are feeling good after their initial SEC win. Now? Time to do it again and get one of those road wins. OU goes to Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The Sooners have already dropped two home games in conference. You have to hold serve and steal some road ones. Saturday night is a big-time opportunity.
