ARLINGTON, Texas — Summer workouts are nearly complete for Oklahoma and a few players have really stood out in the weight room.

Oklahoma released its updated roster for the 2023 season and a handful of Sooners had a noticeable jump in weight. Below are some of the most significant improvements from spring to summer.

Laulu and Halton is undoubtedly a welcome sign as Oklahoma hopes to beef up its defensive line this season. The Sooners also added a couple of defensive linemen in the transfer portal in the spring in Tennessee’s Da’Jon Terry and Utah State’s Phil Paea. Terry comes in at 321 pounds and Paea at 305. Nine defensive linemen put on at least five pounds and 13 put on any type of weight since the spring.

There were also a handful of players who put on 4-6 pounds, including LB Dasan McCullough, LB Danny Stutsman, DL Isaiah Coe, DL Davon Sears, DL Jordan Kelley, LT Walter Rouse, OT Jacob Sexton, and RB Kalib Hicks, among others.

A few incoming freshmen have also impressed in the weight room and appear ready to contribute physically. The two standouts have been LB Lewis Carter and WR Jaquaize Pettaway. Carter weighs 213 and Pettaway 185 pounds. Both could help the Sooners early, despite only arriving just this summer.
