OU advances in SEC Tournament with win over Georgia

The OU women’s basketball won its eighth in a row on Thursday, beating Georgia 70-52 in the second round of the SEC Tournament.
The fifth seed in the conference tourney, the Sooners cruised to their win over the 12th-seeded Bulldogs. Center Raegan Beers led the way, with a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds. Beers was 9-of-14 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Liz Scott was also a force inside, totaling 11 points and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Zya Vann also added 10 points, which all came in the first half.

OU was able to overcome Payton Verhulst scoring only two points and going 0-of-6 from the 3-point line. As a team, the Sooners were just 6-of-28 from beyond the arc. But Oklahoma made up for it with 38 points in the paint and 32 bench points. OU also out-rebounded Georgia 46-38.
The Sooners will now face fourth-seeded Kentucky on Friday at 1:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. The winner will advance to the semi-finals on Saturday.
