The OU athletic department recorded its highest revenue in school history for its 20th consecutive year in 2024.

According to documents obtained by SoonerScoop, Oklahoma totaled $208,829,776 in total operating revenue last year. With total operating expenses of $206,189,277, the athletic department had a profit of approximately $2.6 million, which is the highest since 2018.

These numbers are from OU’s final year in the Big 12 from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024. The Sooners only received $29,189,615 in media rights, which is expected to increase in future years in the SEC. OU and Texas received just a $27.5 million partial share from the conference this year but will make $52 million-plus in 2026.

However, Oklahoma’s main source of revenue came from contributions. OU received a little over $73 million in contributions — a $13 million increase from 2023. Those contributions do not include money given to OU’s current or past collectives for NIL, which was approximately between $14-16 million. Of that $73 million, $43 million was given directly to football, which was down from $47 million in 2023. Football ticket sales were also down for the 2024 fiscal year (2023 football season), at $40,970,310. It was $42.9 million for  2023 (2022 football season).

Maybe one of the most interesting numbers in the report was the football program’s recruiting expenses. The Sooners spent $3,856,295 on recruiting in 2024, which is approximately $400,000 more than in 2023. That $3.8 million would rank in the top five in the SEC but resulted in a No. 16-ranked class.
