There are a lot of top-tier non-conference basketball games for OU this upcoming season, but a lot of eyes are turned toward one.
No, it’s not that Arkansas-Pine Bluff is the most interesting game on the schedule. But Oklahoma is going to host A-PB at McCasland Field House.
Yep, that McCasland Field House.
The Sooners played their last regular season game in McCasland during the 2012-13 slate, earning a 72-42 victory against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Prior to its matchup against the Islanders, OU had not played a regular season contest in the field house since March 5, 1975. Oklahoma’s record in the OU Field House, which was home to the Sooners’ basketball team from 1928-1975, stands at 320-153 (.677).
OU begins the season at home vs. Central Michigan on Nov. 6. The Sooners will play another multi-team event under Porter Moser over Thanksgiving against Iowa and then either Seton Hall/USC.
December is a month to circle with a home date against Providence for the Big 12-Big East battle. It’s back to Tulsa and the BOK Center to take on Arkansas. And then it’s a showdown vs. North Carolina in the Jordan Brand Classic to wrap up the month.

A full schedule, including the Big 12 slate, will be released at a later date.
Moser is hoping for big things in his third year in Norman. The roster is set. The coaching staff is locked down. It’s time to get to work.
“This group – we’re noticeably longer and more athletic,” said Moser two weeks ago. “That’s the first thing that jumps out. It was intentional in how we recruited. Being more athletic. I think we have the pieces to be really, really good defensively. I think we have the pieces to be way more up-tempo. And I think offensive rebounding, steals. I think everything with our length is going to be improved.”
