OU basketball movin' on up, now ranked No. 13
If OU basketball can just take away the slow starts in Norman, this team would be talked about a whole lot more.
As is, though, Porter Moser and company are making it very hard for anybody to not give them respect.
For the second straight season, the Sooners are one of the last undefeated teams in the nation. A 2-0 week last week has OU at 9-0 and now No. 13 in the AP poll.
OU entered the poll for the first time last week at No. 21.
What the Sooners continue to do a great job of is spreading the wealth. Moser loves to say if your mind is right, then your game is right.
In a 94-78 win against Alcorn State at McCasland Field House, a couple of newbies showed that. Freshman guard Dayton Forsythe had 14 points and seven assists.
Backup center Mo Wague added 12 points and six rebounds. Those outings were the best from either one of them since arriving at OU.

Moser is stressing this team needs to be deep. He also firmly believes that it is at least an 11-man rotation.
What Moser appreciated about Forsythe and Wague was that neither had seen a lot of playing time in the last few games, but it didn’t affect them.
“They brought the energy, and they were ready,” Moser said.
They didn’t have to get ready because they were already prepared.
OU is just one of numerous teams from the SEC in the top 25. No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 Kentucky, No. 7 Alabama, No. 9 Florida, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 25 Mississippi State.

It’s time for finals week, first. Then? No. 13 OU (9-0) is back for Bedlam. The Sooners and Oklahoma State are going to the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City on 7 p.m. Saturday. OU swept the Cowboys last season, in what could prove to be the final year the teams meet twice in the same season. OSU is now 6-2 and is quietly finding its groove under first-year coach Steve Lutz.
