OU basketball still movin' on up, now ranked No. 11 & No. 12
Every test, and OU basketball keeps answering the call. The biggest one, obviously, was last week against Michigan in the Jumpman Invitational.
OU overcame an 11-point deficit in the final 10 minutes. And we all know how it ended, with Jeremiah Fears hitting a shot for the ages, a four-point play for the 87-86 victory. Fears earned SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, powered by that moment.
Tack on another win at the Lloyd Noble Center, and OU is now 12-0. That mark is now good enough for No. 11 in the coaches poll. OU was also ranked No. 12 in the AP poll.
A trademark of the team? Being unselfish.
“It’s part of who this team is,” head coach Porter Moser said. “We’re pulling for each other. People were finding Duke. He had it going, and it wasn’t like we were saying, ‘Hey, get it to Duke.’ It was just natural flow and giving it up.

“I thought some things opened up for transition for Jeremiah and Jalon. Jeremiah came right out of the gate, we ran an action and then he popped back for a wide-open three that kind of started us on the first play of the second half. Mind’s right, game’s right. Those guys are about winning.”
Break time
It didn’t take long for the OU players to head home, ha. Time to enjoy the holidays.
“They definitely get to go home,” Moser said. “They are running right now to go home. It’s been a grind. They’re here all summer. Thanksgiving – we’re in the Bahamas. Today is the 22nd? They get to home tonight, 23rd, 24th, 25th. We’ll practice the 26th, that’s our schedule. I just think it’s healthy.
“In the long run, it will be better for us mentally to have them be with family and friends for a couple of days, recharge. Put what we’ve done so far in the bank and be excited to come back. There are a lot of teams that are fractured. We’re moving in the right direction. Enjoy your family. I think it’s just so important for young people to do that. We’ll get after it the 26th, that night.”
