OU basketball the surprise winner of the Battle 4 Atlantis
OU head coach Porter Moser has this saying when it comes to senior Sam Godwin. He’s great at what he’s good at.
Godwin doesn’t try to be who he isn’t. He’s scrappy, tough. You don’t have to run an offensive play for Godwin. He doesn’t care.
But when OU needed a play the most? It was Godwin making sure OU is the surprise winner of the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Godwin came up with defensive play of the game in the final seconds to help the Sooners to a 69-64 victory over Louisville on Friday night in the Bahamas.
OU took down Providence, No. 24 Arizona and the Cardinals to earn the title.
“The drama was intense, but your team can build on that,” Moser said. “Just so proud of the grit.”
OU Game No. 7 Takeaways
*The only reason OU was able to keep the lead in the second half was Jalon Moore. He was sensational throughout. Moser asked him to play center for the better part of the stretch run. And he did it.

Moore finished with 24 points and seven rebounds. Moore was named tournament MVP.
*Down the stretch? It was Glenn Taylor Jr. Louisville came back to tie the game at 58-58 with 5:02 left, and Taylor asserted himself. He scored the next six points for the Sooners.
Taylor ended with 12 points. He was aggressive, smart and not afraid, showing that experience he has.
*It wasn’t all great for OU. The Sooners somehow won this game despite being outrebounded 44-23 against Louisville. That simply does not happen.
*Jeremiah Fears closed out a terrific tournament with 10 points, four assists and three steals.
