OU captains named vs. Maine: Terry, Thompson, Roberts, Lewis, Tarquin, McCullough

A lot of people are dismissing OU football, which makes the next month maybe even bigger than first anticipated.
Because it’s now a college football playoff berth on the line. It’s fighting for the chance to become bowl eligible once again for Brent Venables.
OU needs two wins in the final month of the season. And here come the November captains. Offensive tackle Michael Tarquin, defensive tackle Da’Jon Terry, wide receiver Brenen Thompson, tight end Jake Roberts, linebacker Kip Lewis and Cheetah linebacker Dasan McCullough get the honors Saturday.
OU gets that rare non-conference November game with Maine coming to town. At 4-4 overall and losers of their last three, Sooners need to find their footing.
These captains? Well, they’ve been some of the most vocal in saying they’re going to keep it together.

“Definitely,” said McCullough after Saturday’s loss about being in the lineup again. “I’m just glad I’m back. I’m glad I’m back playing, to be honest with you. So it’s only gonna be up from here.
“I was super excited to be able to start for the guys today, play hard, and that was really my main thing, is I’m gonna come out here and I’m gonna play hard every single snap and I’m gonna show that, I’m gonna put that on film, so heading back into next week, I’m ready to get back to work.”
Nobody saw OU scratching and clawing for a bowl spot in November. But that’s where we are. The expectations are different, but the determination has to be the same.
“Not at all,” said McCullough about the team packing it in. “Not at all. This team, we’re just wild dogs ready to go bite at this point. We’re just ready to play, ready to against whoever, whenever. So we’re gonna stay strong and stay together. It’s a brotherhood here, so we’re gonna stay strong until the end.”
