OU commit Xavier Robinson on class: 'They're on their way'
New OU commit Xavier Robinson was a man of few words. No drama. No real hoopla to his ceremony. It was more about the celebration of the journey than a question of the destination.
Robinson picked Oklahoma on Tuesday evening to become the first running back to enter the class for head coach Brent Venables.
But he had some encouraging words following.
“I know a lot of guys that have offers from OU,” Robinson said. “They plan on coming. They’re on their way. They just don’t know. They’re on their way. The big thing is to bring people with you.”
Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert head coach Mike Dunn said Tuesday night was another sign of how far Robinson has come. Even though the speech was brief, it’s something Dunn said Robinson might not have been ready for a year ago. It’s the continued maturity of someone who lit up the scoreboard as a junior.
All Robinson did was rush for 2,594 yards and 39 touchdowns last season. He averaged 9.4 yards per carry and 185.3 yards per game. Breaking it down even more, he rushed for 840 yards and 12 touchdowns in the four playoff games. The Titans earned yet another state championship.

Robinson looks to the SEC
He’s got one more year left at Carl Albert, and then Robinson is ready for the SEC.
“With OU going to the SEC, I plan on coming and graduating early,” Robinson said. “I know as a freshman, I’m going to have to work. The SEC has a lot of good athletes. The plan is to go out there and make something happen.”
At his size, that will be something to watch. He’s not a linebacker. Robinson is absolutely a running back. He has the best example for knowing that can work.
“I’m actually really excited because I watched OU growing up,” Robinson said. “With Adrian Peterson and his size and seeing a guy that big, it’s possible. It’s a great program. A great support system.
