If you’re looking for shocking moves, this wasn’t it for OU football. A couple of announcements Saturday that felt like they were inevitable more than anything.
Center Andrew Raym and offensive tackle Tyler Guyton both declared for the NFL Draft.
Raym had been posting on social media this week from California, giving you every reason to believe he had been preparing for the Draft. And Guyton came almost out of nowhere in the offseason to become a legitimate NFL Draft prospect.
Both gave heartfelt acknowledgements on social media, giving thanks to OU and for everything the staff and program has done for them.
Expectations were massive for Raym, coming out of Broken Arrow (Okla.) High. A huge recruit for the 2020 class, he became a staple of the offensive line in recent seasons.
Guyton wasn’t one of the transfers talked a lot about after the 2021 season. But boy did he turn out to be a major addition, after his time at TCU.

It has been a weekend of big announcements for OU. You had former quarterback Dillon Gabriel announcing his commitment to Oregon on Saturday morning. Safety Billy Bowman made all of Sooner Nation thrilled when he decided he is going to return to OU for the 2024 season, making that call Friday night.
The Sooners have had 12 players hit the portal, but not too many of them have been a surprise to head coach Brent Venables.
“I love putting puzzles, the pieces of the puzzle, together,” said Venables earlier this week. “I’ve always really enjoyed that. Try to find great people. That’s exciting to me. I’ve got amazing appreciation, thankfulness and respect for what it means to be the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma and the excellence it’s represented for over a hundred years.”
No. 12 OU takes on No. 14 Arizona in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28 in San Antonio.
