OU fans watching the weather all week knew Saturday afternoon and evening is looking to be dicey across the state, and the University has adjusted.

It was announced Friday afternoon that OU-Maine will now be at 11 a.m. It was originally scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The contest will still be on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.

“In light of inclement weather slated for Saturday, and out of an abundance of caution and with student-athlete and fan safety as our top priority, our football game vs. Maine is being moved to 11 a.m.,” said OU in a social media statement. “Some weather models show a higher risk of severe weather beginning earlier in the afternoon, which could complicate our ability to complete the game. The earlier start is also intended to allow everyone to enjoy the game and travel home safely before conditions worsen.”

OU had its choice for the kickoff time. It picked 1:30 because that was when the home games used to be played on a yearly basis.

And after like a month of zero precipitation, the next few days are expected to be pretty intense across the state.

Head coach Brent Venables and Team 130 are looking to snap a three-game losing streak. OU did not win a game in the month of October.

This figures to be a great ‘get right’ type of game for the Sooners. Maybe a chance for some freshmen to get some time? A chance for cohesion and chemistry to be built heading into the stretch run.

OU goes to Missouri next weekend. That kick will be at 6 p.m. or 6:45. The Tigers have a bye week this weekend.

Because this is not an SEC game, there was no availability report for OU with players like Jake Taylor and Deion Burks. We’ll find out Saturday morning if they’re able to participate.
