OU wide receiver Deion Burks and running back Gavin Sawchuk was downgraded to out on the SEC availability report and now listed as doubtful.

Sawchuk suffered a quad strain against Texas and did not play against South Carolina. Burks, who suffered a “soft tissue” injury against Tennessee, had been listed as questionable for four consecutive weeks. He has not played since the Tennessee game. OU coach Brent Venables said on his coaches show on Monday that he was hopeful the Sooners might have a couple of players return from injury this week, including Burks. He said Burks is “day-to-day.”

“These guys aren’t like holding out and wanting to go somewhere else. They’re not. They love Oklahoma. They want to get on the field,” Venables said of the receivers.

According to SoonerScoop sources, Burks was a full participant in Monday’s practice and appeared on track to return against Ole Miss. But he suffered a setback during Tuesday’s practice. In a season full of injuries at the wide receiver position the bad news continues.
