The first weekend was not how OU softball transfer addition Ailana Agbayani wanted things to go. Expected to be a key cog to the Sooner machine in 2025, it was a rough six games.

But it was one weekend of plenty more to come. And you could start to see Agbayani figuring it all out again in Waco.

Agbayani punctuated a strong weekend for OU with a three-run home run en route to a 8-0 victory (5 innings) against host No. 23 Baylor on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Sydney Barker continued her mini-breakout weekend as well, driving in two runs with two outs in the first inning.

That was more than enough for Sam Landry. The transfer addition was mowing them up and mowing them down, one inning after another. Can’t get much better.

Landry threw a five-inning perfect game and got more dominant as the game wore on. She finished with eight strikeouts.

OU 11, Hofstra 3 (5 innings)

You’re starting to see the lineup logic for OU. Abby Dayton gets on base, and Ella Parker brings her home. Dayton scored three time against the Pride.

Parker and Ailana Agbayani each drove in two runs. Freshman Tia Milloy finished the game with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the fifth.

It was a dominant outing from freshman Audrey Lowry in relief. She pitched the final 3.2 innings, not allowing a hit and striking out eight.

OU 9, Baylor 1 (5 innings) (Saturday)

The initial impression in a tough environment for the youngsters was a great one for head coach Patty Gasso. OU, behind freshman Sydney Barker, had zero issues dealing with No. 23 Baylor. The Sooners took care of business in their first game against a ranked opponent.

There are a lot of freshmen for OU fans to be watching, so sometimes it feels like Barker might go a little under the radar. Hard to do that on a day like Saturday.

Barker hit two home runs, including a grand slam, on her way to six RBIs. Barker also had an RBI in the first victory of the day.

If it wasn’t Barker, then it was sophomore Ella Parker. In both games, really. Parker had six hits on the day and is now hitting .688 this season.

It was Kierston Deal getting the win in the circle for OU.

OU 8, Hofstra 0 (5 innings) (Saturday)

This was Parker’s day. The sophomore star had two home runs and drove in four runs. That’s about it would need to take with the way Bella Smith and Paytn Monticelli were working it.

Smith pitched the initial three innings, giving up three hits and striking out three. Then Monticelli came in with four strikeouts in the last two frames. The duo didn’t walk a batter.
