OU softball opens up Love's Field in style in 2025

The ice has thawed, and OU softball can get back to the field. Love’s Field, that is. That debut for the 2025 season is a little bit more like it.
The Sooners weren’t always at their best in their new home in 2024. But Saturday’s initial foray is about as good as you could ask.
Kierston Deal in the circle, Kasidi Pickering delivering the big bomb. Business as usual for OU in an 8-0 run-rule victory against visiting Tulsa in five innings.

The goal was for Love’s to be ready by Saturday, and it was.
The Sooners got some big help in the bottom of the second. Ella Parker came up with two outs and the bases loaded. A two-base, three-run error got OU rolling.
Pickering delivered the big blow, a three-run homer with one out in the bottom of the fourth. Yep, that game entered that territory again.

It went that way because of Deal. The junior threw four scoreless innings. She allowed just two hits, walked one and had four strikeouts. Deal has a 0.70 ERA this season.
Senior transfer addition Isabella Smith came in and closed the show in the fifth to send everyone home early and happy.
Freshman Gabbie Garcia add two hits and scored twice.
There is chaos galore in the initial weeks of the softball season. It has been fun to watch, including No. 1-ranked Texas getting upset Friday vs. Stanford. The Sooners just quietly going about their business, now 11-0 to begin 2025.
