We have finally reached OU softball and the SEC schedule. Checked off football and basketball and what the first season in the SEC would look like.

Now it’s spring sports, and now it’s OU squarely in the role being the hunted. The four-time defending national champions have as tough a schedule as possible, as the 52-game slate was announced Thursday.

The Sooners’ 2025 schedule includes 10 games against last season’s Women’s College World Series qualifiers, 18 contests vs. NCAA Super Regional teams and 31 matchups with NCAA Tournament clubs. Nine of OU’s 2025 opponents finished last season ranked among the top 25 in the final coaches poll.

Welcome to the SEC, Patty Gasso and company.

The Sooners led the country in 2024 in wins and on-base percentage, and ranked in the top five nationally in several categories, including home runs, doubles, batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, shutouts and fielding percentage. OU recorded 27 run-rule victories and 23 shutouts while going 38-6 against Power Five opponents.

OU schedule highlights

*OU begins its season in San Diego, taking on CSUN and San Diego State on Feb. 6. The second weekend will be in Waco, Texas, to take on Baylor and other schools. Then? OU already comes home to Love’s Field.

*OU goes to Arkansas (March 14-16) and Missouri (March 21-23) before welcoming Tennessee to Love’s Field on March 28-30.

*It won’t be a three-game set against Bedlam rival Oklahoma State, but the Sooners and Cowgirls will meet for a one-game matchup April 9 in Oklahoma City at Devon Park.

*From there? On the road at Alabama, home vs. Mississippi State and Texas before wrapping up the regular season at Florida. Yes, OU ends the regular season with a three-game set against the championship series opponent (Texas) and the semifinal one as well (Gators).

*OU will have to go on the road for the SEC Tournament, taking place in Athens, Ga., from May 6-10. Then it’s onto postseason, and we’ll see if all roads once again will lead to OKC.
