OU softball is going to take at least one more hit after winning its third consecutive national championship earlier this month.

Highly touted freshman Jocelyn Erickson is the latest to enter the transfer portal, per a report from D1Softball on Monday evening.

Erickson joins pitcher Jordy Bahl and catcher Sophia Nugent to leave the program in the last couple of weeks.

This didn’t even seem feasible after the first couple weekends of the season. Erickson was hitting .643 and was coming off an eight-RBI game. Eight!

It sure seemed like head coach Patty Gasso had found something special right from the jump.

“Her size and her strength and the fact that she was capable of being a good catcher, she could play first … she has a really good arm,” said Gasso in February. “And she played on a good travel ball team that I knew that she was going to get better with. All of those things. I knew that she would find a place eventually.”

Erickson eventually came down to earth. But she was still productive for OU and was still over .500 in mid-March. She finishes her only season in Norman hitting .337 with seven home runs, 32 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

Erickson was a combined 0-for-9 in the Super Regional and Women’s College World Series. Erickson was the only OU player to not be present for the team’s celebration evening at Marita Hynes Field just two days after clinching the WCWS.

All eyes will be on BYU, for obvious reasons. Erickson’s brother played baseball for the Cougars. Her sister, Emilee, played for BYU. Her sister, Kaylee, plays for BYU.

OU portal departures haven’t taken long to find their new homes. Bahl is returning back to her roots, going to Nebraska. Nugent is taking a very familiar road for recent OU transfers, heading to Tennessee.
