OU women's basketball falls to No. 13 Duke in overtime

The No. 8 OU women’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2024-25 season, falling to No. 13 Duke in the Ball Dawgs Classic in Las Vegas. Oklahoma is now 6-1 on the season.

The Sooners trailed by as many as 15 in the second quarter and by 11 at halftime. But they stormed back in the fourth, tying the game with seven minutes to play. Trailing by five with 19 seconds left, senior Lexy Keys hit her first 3-pointer of the game to cut the deficit to two. After a Duke free throw, Payton Verhulst hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 94 and send it to overtime.

In overtime, OU took its first lead since the first quarter but was unable to maintain it. The Blue Devils outscored the Sooners 15-5 in overtime. Verhulst finished with a triple-double, totaling 29 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Oregon State center transfer Raegan Beers added 26 points and six rebounds. Skylar Vann had 13 points and Sahara Williams had 12 points.

OU will be back in action on Dec. 4 against No. 24 Louisville on the road.
