OU women's basketball: Sooners dominate Wichita State 79-49

The No. 9 OU women’s basketball team continued its early-season domination on Tuesday.

Oklahoma won its first road game of the season, beating Wichita State 79-49. The Sooners are now 4-0, winning all four of their games by 25-plus points.

Senior guard Payton Verhulst led the way for OU with a season-high 16 points and seven rebounds. Senior Lexy Keys added 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the 3-point line. Oregon State transfer center Raegan Beers had her third double-double of the season, totaling 11 points and 10 rebounds. And true freshman guard Zya Vann had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

As a team, OU’s bench outscored Wichita State 37-5. The Sooners also dominated in the paint, scoring 38 points in the paint to Wichita State’s 22 and out-rebounded them 53-31.

Oklahoma will be back in action Friday, Nov. 22 against UNLV in Las Vegas. The Sooners won’t be back at home until Dec. 8 against Alabama State.
