OU women's basketball's Jennie Baranczyk wins Big 12 Coach of the Year
OU women’s basketball coach Jennie Baranczyk has been named the Big 12 Coach of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday.
Baranczyk is in her third season at OU and has won back-to-back Big 12 regular season championships. She’s led her team to a 21-8 overall record and a 15-3 conference record. In her three years, Baranczyk has a 72-24 record, including a 41-13 record in conference. Her players also took home several awards on Tuesday.
OU senior forward Skylar Vann was named the Co-Player of the Year, along with Texas freshman forward Madison Booker. Vann was also a unanimous first-team selection. In Big 12 play, Vann averaged 15.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per games. She’s the first Oklahoma player to win the award since Courtney Paris in 2009.

Junior guard Payton Verhulst was named the Newcomer of the Year and a first-team selection. Verhulst averaged 13.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in conference play. And OU freshman forward Sahara Williams and senior guard Nevaeh Tot were honorable mentions.
OU is the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 Championship Tournament and will play the winner of TCU and OSU on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Oklahoma is currently projected as a five seed in the NCAA Tournament.
