Plenty to See in the Sooner State
Oklahoma currently has 12 offers out to in-state prospects so, as much as ever, the SoonerScoop.com spring tour is a necessity. And with such a move it’s time to take a look at the numerous prospects we’ll be seeing while making our way around the state in the coming week.
Backfield Talent All Over the State
The Names to Know: Grady Adamson, Jamarian Ficklin, Rodney Fields, Caden Knighten, David McComb, Shaker Reisig, Xavier Robinson
Sooners Offers: Robinson
The Next Offer: Knighten
Breakdown: It’s an unbelievable set of quarterbacks in the state and we’ll have a chance to see most all of them in the week to come. Adamson and Ficklin are two we’ve already seen this spring and though they are very different both look like power five talents. Reisig and McComb have plenty of people excited and could push into the On300 at some point in the future.
At running back Robinson already holds an offer while Knighten has been rumored to be joining that club in the weeks to come but either way he’s clearly a player of interest to the staff.
Oklahoma’s Deepest Group of Pass Catchers, Ever?
The Names to Know: Cooper Alexander, Witt Edwards, Ladainian Fields, Josh Ford, Micho Lavine, Kayden McGee, Jaden Nickens, CJ Nickson, Nate Roberts, CJ Simon, Elijah Thomas
Sooners Offers: Nickens, Nickson, Roberts, and Thomas
The Next Offer: Alexander and Simon
Breakdown: It’s an insane amount of depth at the Oklahoma offensive perimeter with four prospects already holding Oklahoma offers. Leading the way may well be Nickson who we’ll get our first real look at this spring but his length and athleticism make for a very interesting possibility on either side of the ball. Similarly, Roberts, Nickens, and Thomas have rapidly growing offer lists and are by several accounts among the nation’s elite at their positions.
Alexander and Simon are both very possible offers given time with Alexander being an easy answer to Oklahoma’s tight end spot in the 2024 class. That said, Edwards is an intriguing possibility with him just being a big spring and summer away from really vaulting into the national conversation.
Young Lineman All Over the State
The Names to Know: Javion Antai, Blake Cherry, Brody Duffel, Ryker Haff, Riley Kester, Evan McClure, Daniel Okoye, Derrick Osmond, Alex Shieldnight, and Darreyl Thomas.

Sooners Offers: Okoye and Shieldnight
The Next Offer(s): Cherry and Kester
Breakdown: Obviously Okoye and Shieldnight are two pass rushers that the state doesn’t often produce and, as such, have been priorities for the Sooners since pretty early on. Both are seriously considering Oklahoma at the moment.
Meanwhile Young lineman like Antai, Cherry, Haff, and even a guy finishing his freshman year – Kester are possible candidates for the Sooners going forward.
A Smaller But Talented Group at Linebacker
The Names to Know: Marcus James, Brayden Knox, Will Smith
Sooners Offers: James
The Next Offer: Knox
Breakdown: Smith is an Oklahoma State commitment with impressive natural skills. As a junior his game started to meet his talent level and this spring he’ll be very interesting to watch. James, Oklahoma’s newest offer inside state lines, has just arrived at Carl Albert and it will be interesting to see how far he climbs.
While the other two hold numerous offers, Knox isn’t as well known at this point but is a prospect with a lot of potential and physicality in his game.
Sooners Like In-State Secondary Crop
The Names to Know: Trystan Haynes, Jalen Jones, Devon Jordan, Mykel Patterson-McDonald
Sooners Offers: Haynes, Jordan, and Patterson-McDonald
The Next Offer: Mason James
Breakdown: Oklahoma’s always done well with recruiting the state for defensive backs and have hopes of seeing that continue in the next three senior classes. With that in mind for 2025 is Haynes while Jordan and Patterson-McDonald are the battles Oklahoma are already deep into in 2024.
Another one to watch is James who isn’t well known yet but has a lot of ability and while we may, or may not, be able to see him this week is about to take off.
