Point guard Dayton Forsythe commits to OU
OU basketball is on the board for the 2024 class. Not only do the Sooners get their first commitment, but it’s from their backyard.
Dale (Okla.) High point guard Dayton Forsythe announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Thursday evening.
Forsythe, a three-star prospect, had recently earned an offer from Villanova. Other schools like Colorado State, Loyola (Chicago) and Nebraska were among those in the running.
But OU and head coach Porter Moser did a great job of locking this up last month. Entering his OU official visit, there was still some concern about where things stood with Forsythe. Coming out of the visit, it felt like all questions had been answered.
“My favorite part was when we ate dinner at coach’s house,” Forsythe told SoonerScoop following the visit. “I felt comfortable being around everyone and just being able to hangout and be myself.”
Forsythe the plan from there was to take some time with his family and really lock things down. He had an outstanding final session of travel ball this summer, again, answering any questions some might have had about his ability.
It hasn’t exactly worked out with the on-court success in Moser’s first two seasons, but he hasn’t lost the faith in top-tier recruits.

“OU is in the running because I love Coach Moser’s vision for the program and what he is all about,” Forsythe said.
Forsythe has been a crucial part in helping Dale earn back-to-back Class 2A state championships. One thing Moser has reiterated often is his desire to keep the best in-state players home.
He can check that box here. Forsythe is No. 213 overall in the industry composite and No. 1 in the state and is the No. 31 point guard. He is No. 1 in the state for On3 as well.
OU fans were hoping for some fireworks after all the recent visits. The Sooners got what they were hoping for with Forsythe and can keep on working on building the class.
