Porter Moser gives positive update for OU guard Duke Miles
No other way to say it than a scary situation for OU guard Duke Miles last Saturday. Showing the all-out effort the Sooners had to have, Miles dove for a ball to steal it. But instead? Went face first into the court, losing several teeth in the process.
A few days later, sounds like things are going to be OK. Well, at least good enough for Miles to suit up and be ready for Kentucky at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
With a little protection, of course, in a mouth guard.
“He’ll have all that. It was kind of funny. I was just — I came to the film session yesterday and I went up and I walked through and I saw ’em all in the weights, but then I didn’t see Duke,” head coach Porter Moser told SoonerScoop. “He was the only guy didn’t see. So the first time I saw him was in the weights, and he had a COVID mask on. And I’m like, ‘Duke, you sick?’ He goes, ‘No, my lips are swollen.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, they finally found a second usefulness for the COVID masks.’ To hide a swollen mouth.
“So he will have a mouth guard. Just a tough, tough kid. And how about the photographer who caught that picture? I mean, kudos to him. I mean, what snapshot that is. It’s like perfect timing to see the chicklets drop from his mouth. That’s just amazing. Tough kid, need him, he’ll be playing.”

Miles actually did return to the game during OU’s 93-87 win against No. 21 Mississippi State. And OU absolutely is going to need Miles against the Wildcats.
Kentucky should be without starters Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson, but it would still register as the best ranked victory for the Sooners. The Wildcats are No. 17.
This will mark Kentucky’s first-ever trip to Norman. The Sooners are gunning for their first-ever win against the Wildcats, a mere 0-3 in the series history.
