Porter Moser: 'I love Oklahoma and Sooner Nation'
Oklahoma men’s basketball head coach Porter Moser simply had enough. It was time to try, at least, to end the coaching rumors once and for all.
“Heard all the rumors this afternoon and want to say emphatically THERE IS ZERO TRUTH!!! I LOVE Oklahoma and Sooner Nation.
“These accounts make stuff up and there is no validity to any of these “sources” b/c I have spoken to NO ONE about any job!!”
Multiple sources had continued to tell SoonerScoop on Monday there was no legitimacy to the Moser and DePaul rumors. However, it just kept going. And was going to keep coming until Moser silenced the elephant in the room.
Moser posted that on social media Monday evening. He followed that by saying they were at the team dinner in Kansas City.
The Sooners arrived in KC on Monday night, getting ready for the Big 12 tournament and No. 8-seed TCU 2 p.m. Wednesday.
But all the talk in the last 24 hours had been about Moser’s future at OU, or lack thereof. Anonymous accounts on social media were adamant Moser will be named the next head coach at DePaul.
This is, of course, not the first time Moser and DePaul have been linked. SoonerScoop asked Moser this exact same question a month ago today.

“Haven’t talked to anybody. Not even thinking about anything,” said Moser on Feb. 11. “Absolutely not even engaging into anything like that, 100 percent. So excited about where we are at with the team. This is everything we’ve tried to build for is being in this position. Same comment as last year. All rumor mill fodder. Nothing, nothing true.”
That answer, though, didn’t quiet anything. The rumors persisted and went next level over this last weekend. Basically, insinuating it’s a done deal, and Moser would be returning to Chicago to run the Blue Demons.
It might be flattering for Moser, but he’s trying to stress the fact he’s not going anywhere. He is locked in with the Sooners.
“There’s two things. I don’t enjoy it,” said Moser last month about the rumors. “But I will say this. It’s a little annoying because I have worn my love for being here at Oklahoma on my heart, man. I love this. I know where I want to go with this. If you really want to be real? Well, if you’re 2-25, they’re not mentioning your name. If you have no history of any success, they’re not mentioning your name.
“But it is because it’s so much rumor, so much rumor now and stuff to talk about. It has not even been on a conversation with me with anything.”
OU just earned its first 20-win regular season since Buddy Hield and the 2016 Final Four team. The Sooners are poised to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time in Moser’s three seasons running the Sooners.
